Google Algorithm Changes & Statistics

Google makes over 500 search algorithm changes per year according to Amit Singhal, Google Fellow; and, Google has an entire team of people working on their algorithm every single day. That’s an average of about 10 changes per week. Generally, people don’t wake up in the morning and notice the subtle changes that have occurred since the day before; such as adjustments to the way web pages are indexed. In response to these subtle changes, however, SA4i facilitates subtle changes in response so businesses can compete on the cutting edge.

Search engines, search engine algorithms, and search engine optimization (SEO) are not what they used to be 5 years ago or even what they used to be yesterday. In addition to changes in the way pages are indexed, there are changes involving the aesthetics of how the search results are displayed. Others are created to eliminate spam while others are created to enhance user experience. And the list of what the changes involve grows.

As the world progresses, so does the realm of technology and the degree to which calculated social media is fundamental. “The Google search algorithm is made up of several hundred signals that we try to put together to serve the best results for each user”, Rajeen Patel, Google Search Scientist.

Providing the best results for each user includes the fact that Google has begun incorporating personalized searches into their algorithm tweaks and their search results more and more. Search results are likely to become mingled with friend recommendations (primarily from Google+). This will undoubtedly contribute to social communication becoming even more important than it has already become.

Social media has become an increasingly vital component of successful strategic web marketing. Visitors to your site may already have bookmarked your page or may currently follow your Twitter account; but, perspective customers are increasingly looking for your digital voice. And, they want the option to interact with that voice.

Social media has become crucial in overhauling the way businesses communicate. Facebook will soon have a billion users and a half-billion mobile users. Today’s digital world necessitates staying in tune with Google changes as well as social media changes.

Search and social are becoming more intertwined. SA4i is prepared to direct traffic at this
busy, competitive, and evolving intersection.
